Grandfather-to-Be's Touching Response to Baby News Will Make Your Day

Who wants some good news? This story did make my day, and I wanted to share it with you guys, too.

Jessica Hickey’s father has been asking for grandchildren since her wedding night — and his response to learning she was pregnant is nothing short of delightful.

Hickey, an only child, made the big reveal while filming her dad opening a gift box with a pacifier and note inside. She posted the video of his reaction to Reddit saying:

“Told my dad he is going to be a grandpa I am his only child and my mother passed away 20 years ago. He has been asking us for grandchildren since our wedding night. I think he is happy. ”

ABC News spoke to Jessica briefly who said her dad, in his 50s, has no idea of his new-found Internet fame.

We all went to dinner last Father's Day when I was handed a gift box. In the bottom was a t-shirt, so I opened it up- still not having a clue - "YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE WORLD'S BEST..... GRANDPA". I was laughing and crying at the same time LOL.

Today I'm watching the lil' critter while mom and dad are out and about.
So far so good.

Thanks Wake, truly a heartwarming story. I remember telling my parents when I was pregnant with my daughter several years ago. They both cried-with joy. It was sweet. My mom isn't around any more but my dad loves being a Grandpa. This made my day.

Just seeing this video, I wanna be a grandfather so badly.

I can see myself spoiling the little rugrats rotten. Both grandparents from both sides were never really there for me, or gave me much attention/love. That's why I want to be there for my grandbabies, and give them the love and attention I never got from mine.
