The most peaceful resolution is a partition of Ukraine with a small sliver of Ukraine separated from the Russian majority. Putin thus far has treated Ukraine with kindness. He must have mellowed out. The old Putin would have shut off the energy and frozen them into submission. Perhaps the Russian majority is what tempered his actions.
