Rand Paul isn't a practicing physician and hasn't been for years and certainly not since the Affordable Care Act came into law. He was an opthamologist - a specialist whose patients were referrals from within networks. He wasn't a primary care physician or even a general surgeon.

Just because someone is a doctor, doesn't mean they have any knowledge of how the business side of medicine works. In fact, in my experience as a banker, I found that doctors were generally fiscally ignorant, but thought that because they were doctors, they should know everything, and were therefore unwilling to take good advice.

Teachers were nearly as bad but they made less money and were therefore, less arogant. Marginally.
