GOP are not about "freedom": Move to Kill Net Neutrality Legislation

Watch out when radical left wing administrations use words like "fairness" and "neutrality" in legislation and executive orders. Remember the media "fairness doctrine" aka "hush Rush" which would have crippled right wing talk radio? You can bet your ass that Obama's FCC "neutrality program" is a heavy handed measure to take control over the internet and the word "neutrality" is just ammunition for left wing blogs to pretend they are outraged that republicans are against "neutrality" and "fairness". It's just fodder for low information lefties to get their dose of hatred for the day.
Exactly. Once the Government's nose is under the tent? They take over like everything. And once established? TRY getting RID of the Law...once power is gotten? Hard to wrest it away. They have NO business in this. Let the MARKET decide this.

To Government? HANDS OFF. Get lost.

You may very well be right, Whitehall, but the other way of looking at it might be to prevent Comcast, AT&T, RCN, et al, from completing the process of taking over the Internet for themselves. If this is ostensibly its intent, then I, for one, am willing to take a closer look at it. I don't trust Dems or Libs any further than I can throw 'em in such matters, but if the proposed legislation does what they're claiming, and doesn't include any escape hatches for the Big Guns or landmines for the Little Guy, maybe, for once, they 've got a halfway-decent idea. It sounds good, at first 'glance', but I concede, happily, that both their bill and their motives ought to be put under a microscope and that we should only move forward with it if it is beneficial to The People rather than The Corporatists.

Maybe we should require gas stations to fill up all cars and trucks for the same price regardless of their capacity. Probably not such a great deal for the guy with an 8 gallon tank but a great deal for my 132 gallon capacity. The principle is the same here, band width gluttons don't want to pay for what they use, they expect everyone else to subsidize them.

Umm, Gas is the same price. They don't change the price per gallon simply because you have an expensive car. Thanks for bringing that up.

I know reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, I see the concept of a FILL UP for the SAME PRICE, regardless of quantity is beyond you. If ya got a fourth grader around they can explain it to ya.

But your analogy has nothing to do with Net Neutrality then.

IT'S HILARIOUS the way fascist left-wing idiots put warm and fuzzy names on their hypocritical attempts to silence all oposition

Thanks for identifying yourself as someone who clearly doesn't understand the issue.

I'm pretty sure you don't know much beyond the term yourself. Yeah, it's wikipedia, but it is sourced. Net neutrality comes with a ton of pros and cons with industry leaders on both side.

So use your own words to tell us why removing Net Neutrality is a positive.

I'm still waiting for someone to speak up and say that they were unhappy with the way they have been able to access the internet up until now. Anyone?

The Free Market will work it out...as soon as we have viable alternatives.
No, most of us DON'T have viable alternatives.

There is no free market here. That's a Statist lie perpetuated to cover for their intervention failures. When the government meddling fails in markets they simply blame free markets and capitalism. That way while everyone is up in arms over something that doesn't exist, government can continue to **** shit up without resistance.

The Tri-State area has CableVision (TV sucks compared to FIOS), FIOS and TimeWarner.
We do NOT have all three in any one place.
CableVision habitually plays with their Internet speed and screws up billing on a monthly basis hoping no one will notice.
FIOS gets pretty expensive.
The non-Fiber cable services suck.

It is true that CableVision was given a clear field for 20 years so an infrastructure could take hold, but it wasn't exactly like any other company was trying to jump on the bandwagon for a very long time.

Even though the court struck this down repeatedly they are going to do it anyway.
This is just of opposite of freedom like they are telling you.
This is the government regulating the internet.

What it will do is;
Net Neutrality would benefit industry lobbyists, and not consumers due to the potential of regulatory capture with policies that protect incumbent interests.

Net neutrality means consumers will be stuck paying more for their Internet access to cover the big online companies' share," the ad claims.

Any Government regulations always get passed down to the consumer.

Everybody need to understand this and should be against it.

Actually it does, what makes the internet so special that the people who use the lions share of the infrastructure shouldn't have to pay the lions share of the bill? Where's the incentive to improve compression technologies if there is no price for gobbling additional bandwidth.

Absolutely...like CAFE Standards in autos...EPA Regulations, MINIMUM WAGE...and a myriad of other regulations/laws handed down by the imperial FEDERAL Gubmint. It tends to choke off commerce. Good point.

Shitstain...when the GOV is worried if only FOXNews puts liberals on the air while the rest of the LIBERAL media don't have to have 1 conservative on the air....we are going to block it.

Once again the GOP proves that when they preach about freedom and small business that it's all total horseshit. The GOP is about one thing....big business and freedom for big business to do what they want, when they want. The GOP doesn't care about freedom for the individual and they certainly don't care about small business. Their ridiculous stance on Net Neutrality proves that without a shadow of a doubt.

If you are against Net Neutrality, you either don't understand the issue or you're a corporate shill. There is no other explanation.

Because the two most popular compression "technologies" were developed by independent developers.
I have yet to hear of any ISP working on improving or replacing XviD or DivX.
Why should they when they can get it for free?

Why should they, the folks that have high volume content should be worrying about compression so they can move more content over the existing system. That or they can build their own system.

You shockingly misinterpreted my last sentence...the compression "technologies" ARE being used by the ISPs (FIOS uses DivX) who didn't have to pay a penny for it.

Asswipe...since you are too stupid to understand...

FOXNews and conservative talk radio will be targeted for not having "enough liberals" on the air.

ABC, CNN, msnbc, PBS, etc won't be bothered for not having enough conservatives on the air.

Obama and his goons want to shut off conservative media outlets because he doesn't like their message and bigger followings.

Oh, go **** yourself.

Sorry, can you run this through a translator or something? It's still not making any sense in English. What language is this anyway?

Oh, you're delusional and paranoid! Why didn't you just say that at the start? It would have saved everyone a lot of time.

What I find amusing is how many conservatives here have become fans of censorship solely because liberals oppose it. Since liberals generally embrace liberty and conservatives reflexively oppose anything liberals do, conservatives now have a knee-jerk reaction to oppose liberty.

Asswipe....why is there emphasis on this "neutrality" law especially today with mass media on the radio, TV and internet???

Are you really that ******* stupid to claim liberals don't get a chance to show off your stupidity in public??? You are doing it here...

Is it possible that you've confused "net neutrality" with the "fairness doctrine"?

They don't have anything to do with each other.
