RFID ... the same as in the COVID vaccines ...

"Radio Frequency Identification" ... just a micro-transmitter that only reaches a couple feet ... easy check-in at airports and security services ... there's always been the promise of merchandise applications ...

This won't stop employee theft ... the worst kind ... nor the "grab-and-dash" types ... you know Walmart is scanning the chip that came in the mRNA shot ... they know where we live, why don't they just take the stolen merchandise back? ...

well walmart thinks they are getting rid of shoplifting. we shall see.so not using barcodes they think will stop thieves. hmm
Hmm, barcode is there, but invisible to the naked eye….

Seems ripe for subliminal advertising!

Standing at the checkout: “I’ve had this sudden urge to go back and buy another 20 pounds of hamburger and 8 boxes of condoms…”

Wal mart manager behind the glass with arms folded: “muahahahhahah, I got you now my little pretties! Shop…SHOP! muahahAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA….

MUAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAJAHAHAH!”

Calm down. Go sit down and close your eyes. Think of your (or her) happy spot. Let it out. Better?

The biggest thieves are employees. Much more than customers.

I dont get why they dont hire more cashiers if they are losing billions to shoplifting at self checkout.

I hate the whole transition to self-checkout. At least Costco has a decent sized area to place your items after you scan them. But don't put an empty box or anything there until you're done, it will halt the entire process.

I would like this better if it was a conveyor so I could just unload my cart onto the belt and let the machine do the rest. Swipe my card and collect my groceries at the other end...

lol they will find a way to screw it up. Most likely they will just over charge everybody and create even longer lines at their customer no service desks.

You have to balance staff and security equipment costs to the cost price of merchandise stolen. Does that outweigh the cost price of product stolen?

Also, when shops lose $x amount in a product, it means they have greater buying power from the manufacturer because they need to buy larger quantities. If they lock the product behind glass, sales drop. So retailers balance both until they decide a lock a product range away behind glass etc..

Just do what the Arabs do, the shoplifter loses a hand when caught. Just have a meaningful deterrent.

Class warfare. They refuse to pay enough to get competent people, and end up hiring a lot of halfwits who work cheap, then snivel about how incompetent and uneducated the worker pool is, like every other company does.

Don't have any idea what they're complaining about; corporate morals and values are coming more in line at the prole level every day. They should be happy, not complaining about the 'everybody is just out for themselves!' mentality they nurture in their own culture and among the 'elites'.

The last stat I knew of in the UK was employee theft accounted for 39% of shoplifting.

I understand. I am in corporate finance. 20 years with Verizon.

When I was with CVS, we closed several stores in Jersey from shrink. Mob involvement. Huge outliers.

I cannot imagine it would have cost BILLIONS to put humans at the Walmarts with the worst shrink.

Some…pay them minimum wage, 39 hours per week, no benefits.

Hopefully the new tech works well.

A barely functioning tard can scan barcodes and weigh produce and bag.

I get it, but it is not a huge challenge to be a cashier.

Instead, they get the CUSTOMERS to be EMPLOYEES. EVERY CUSTOMER IS A WALMART CASHIER!

They have no self-checkouts at Aldi's, and that store can checkout 10 customers with one cashier, better than most convenience stores can. Long lines don't last long there.
