Looks like he's moving on.

Bongino's tenure reminds me of Kevin Bacon and the manger scene from the great movie, Diner. After tearing up the manger Bacon sits down, crosses his arms, and says, my work is done. Bongino participated in the weakening of the FBI by helping to oversee the firing of qualified, experienced agents because they investigated trump. He helped weaken the country and now he's leaving because his work is done.

An interesting take from someone who doesn't like Bongino.

I do not like Dan Bongino -- not a surprise to most.

I do not think he was a wise pick for the position he was give -- he was unqualified for an extraordinarily difficult job.

But I think he went to DC with a clear mission in his head about what he wanted to accomplish in that role.

I think in his mind, he has done much of what he wanted to do in terms of "clearing out" personnel that needed to be gone, and re-orienting the priorities of the FBI back to something resembling the pre-Mueller radical makeover of the FBI's mission.

But people who I trust say a HUGE burden on Bongino has been his separation from his family who remained behind in Florida when he took the job in DC.

Deputy Director is not a position where you can commute home on weekends. Dan has young children still at home and I suspect the separation became too high a price to pay.

He's accomplished what he thought were the top priorities, and now it's time to go home.

He joined the FBI, was shocked to his core, nothing happened

How does he go back to the podcast?

He's either critical of Trump, Bondi and Kash or what?

This Cabinet of 47's towers above the Øbama or Biden Cabinets.

The Øbama Cabinet was mediocre, the Biden Cabinet was the worst ever.
Only if you are ranking them by criminal incompetence.

Bongino found the sacrifice for the country demanded too much of his time. He likes shorter work days, more money, and the ability to lie to his podcast audience without being held accountable. And, he is a hack.

I always thought he should have headed SS. I really don't like the guy Trump put in there. The Secret Service needs a housecleaning and that guy is not willing.

15th post
Trump is incompetent thus his choices are stupid too. Follows from the felon, he is also too stupid for the job.

Why do you say that? Trump named the new guy who was the head of his protection detail and fired a shitload of people.
I don't think you're correct about the firings. And so what if Sean Curren did his job as an agent well? Biden thought Kim Cheadle did her job as an agent well and look what a mess she brought in.

Being a good agent is not the same as being a good director. Curren is lax, IMHO.

The agency said it had implemented 21 of the 46 recommendations made by Congressional oversight bodies. The rest were either in progress or not up to the agency to implement.

Some of what they’ve done involves new equipment and a greater emphasis on addressing threats from above. They’ve created a new Aviation Division to oversee aerial operations like drones. The agency said it has two armored ATVs for use on golf courses and is producing another three. And they’re purchasing mobile command vehicles that will be pre-positioned around the country.

But much of what the agency says it has done is about changing policies and procedures to address those July 13 lapses — things like revising their manual to “advance procedures and communication practices” when it comes to coordinating with local law enforcement or clarifying who’s responsible for events where protectees are appearing.

They’ve updated their procedures about documenting line-of-sight concerns and how those concerns are going to be addressed.

So far it doesn’t appear that anyone has been or will be fired, although the agency’s director at the time, Kim Cheatle, swiftly resigned. The agency said Thursday that six staffers have been disciplined with suspensions ranging from 10 to 42 days without pay; the six were placed on restricted duty or nonoperational positions. Their identities and positions were not released.
