Perhaps a federal law that would implement a mandatory significant prison term for any who refuse to give their belongings over to the criminal would end robberies. Get your local politician on it and, see if the politician ever gets elected again, or you could mandate that all citizens turn in their firearms. Two things will happen. ONE: Not a single criminal will turn in his/her firearm, he/she needs it for their crimes. TWO: Your gleeful Marxist overlords calling themselves, democrats will get rid of the Constitution, implement a massive number of new laws, round up the weird fringe elements, along with some of their fellow revolutionaries, then start the major culling of the herd in the millions, like they did in China, Russia, Nazi Germany and Cambodia
Bottom line is that in a gunfight, there is no guarantee that bullets fired will go where intended. In fact, about 50% of the bullets fired by police at a threat, miss their mark and land elsewhere, and they are regularly tested on the firing ranges.
