How terribly sad for the church people who got disillusioned by the abuses of this thoughtless man. I hope they remember the words of a sermon I heard that advised his fellow Christians to "Keep your eyes off people and on God." Men do disappointing things. God never does. That's why I think that sermon was the best advice for people who put their faith in another human being to remember that everyone falls short of the goodness of God, except God, the being we worship rather than men. Even the very best of good men screw up. Moses was sentenced to missing out on stepping foot on the promised land because of his lack of faith only once. I believe that God had already forgiven him, but the lesson was there: only one is God, and we need to remember that.
