As the frustrations mount and the insane clips and photos of what things look like continue to roll in, some have taken to the Twitter machine to blame Republican Glenn Youngkin, who I should point out is the Gov.-Elect and won’t be sworn in until January 15th. The blame was so predominant that as I write this, “Youngkin” is trending on Twitter.
For instance, Jonah Goldberg, who we have been reliably told is a truuuue conservative or something, said on Twitter that “If I was Glenn Youngkin I’d be flooding the zone to get this I-95 crap fixed. DC suburbs are vengeful about this kind of thing.”
When he was reminded Youngkin was not yet in charge of the state, Goldberg sheepishly noted that he “thought [Youngkin] was sworn in already. Tho grabbing his truck would be a baller move.”
A liberal calling himself “John Peter Zinger” and who has nearly 5,000 followers went off on Youngkin, apparently also not realizing that Gov. Ralph Northam (D) still held the office.
“What’s happening on the highways in Virginia is tragic. Problem is Gov. Youngkin has NO EXPERIENCE in governing. That’s what happens when voters fall for CRT dog whistles. Y’all should have stuck with McAuliffe, Virginia,” he whined.
“Looks Youngkin failed his first test in Va, with traffic stopped for 10-12 hrs on 95 in Virginia. Failure for gov.,” complained Jennifer G., a self-described “liberal transplant in NC.”
There were many more tweets along those lines, but one of the more high-profile liberals – Eric Boehlert, formerly of Media Matters infamy – deleted his when he realized his mistake (he deleted it so quickly you can’t find an archived version of it):
Yep, people are stupid. Having traveled on I-95 one time in that area, I have made it a point never to make that mistake again. Or live there.Wonder how many of these are based on ignorance vs. actual malice.

The Gov Brownface is the current, Dem Gov of the state....with that said, it's hard to blame him for the weather.
They just want to be historically correct.
I can't really blame even Knanrobes as I-95 is always a clusterfuck in bad weather.....Someone must have thought of something they shouldn't have.

Here is where the driver crisis comes into play, VDOT has a shortage of drivers because contractors as well as trucking companies are paying twice the wage than VDOT does. My nephew is a VDOT area supervisor and he told me that it's going to be rough covering the roads this year due to the driver shortage.The blame is not being ready with the plows. Even if storms don't happen often down there, they happen. And the blame goes to whatever agency does the plowing, usually the State DOT, which is usually controlled by the Governor.
NYC mayors know intimately who gets blamed when the plows fall behind.
I'll tell you straight-up I'd not try to get through those woods, maybe go around them.In the mid 1980s we were visiting our in laws in Northern Indiana for Christmas.
That year there was a bad ice and snow storm. Temperatures were like 15-20 below.
Nearby was Hwy 30, a main east west road up there.
The road got shut down and there were stranded travelers. Nearby was a rest area with people stranded. No power.
The people in the area knew the stranded people needed help. They (including my mother in law) made up hot soup and sandwiches and got blankets and with their ATVs took it to the people. Nobody asked them to do it, they just did it.
One standed family had an infant and one of the local families invited them to stay at their house until the roads the cleared.
There were housing developments a few hundred feet off the I-95 interstate in DC so why didn't those people help the stranded motorists? Especially the ones with children?
Is that the difference between Conservatives from Indiana and those shithead Libtards around DC?

Not impassable but not as easy to traverse as you might think. They don't look like much but they are nothing but a thick tangle of underbrush.....Think The Battle of the Wilderness of the Civil War era type of growth.
Add to that there is 8-10" of snow on top of it all with at least one wire fence you would have to cut through or climb over, likely two. Then you have to move up a elevated grade to even reach the roadway.
I'm just saying there would be a better way unless you got a D-7 Cat. involved.They had the same access problems in Indiana with the storm but they managed to get the help to the people.
