Giants' pitcher Sam Coonrod refuses to kneel during Black Lives Matter moment because of faith: 'I'm a Christian'

San Francisco Giants pitcher Sam Coonrod was the only player to stand during a moment honoring the Black Lives Matter movement ahead of the season opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers, telling reporters after the game that as a Christian he “can’t kneel before anything besides God.”

MLB provided teams with a long black ribbon that players on both sides jointly held as they kneeled in unity.

Every player and coach from the Washington Nationals and New York Yankees took part in the demonstration ahead of their game, but hours later, Coonrod stood alone.

I’m a Christian," he said, according to TMZ Sports. “So I just believe that I can’t kneel before anything besides God.”

Hero is a strong word. I reserve that for those in the military or who put their life in extreme danger against great odds/risk. I just respect people who blaze their own trail. One man not giving in to peer pressure and the public slurs that will surely come his way is a man I can respect.

In the article he also goes on to say there are aspects of the BLM movement that he has trouble with, the Marxist connotations. It's important to hear all sides of an argument.

He is within his rights not to participate just as it is within anyone else’s rights who chooses to participate.
That is the whole point.

Bullshit.
There's been pressure on all the athletes to kneel.

There's been pressure on all the athletes to kneel.

And, instead of being a piece of shit appeaser, he chose to be true to his morals.

There's not a single fucking thing wrong with that.

The problem we have is these BLM monkeys don't actually have morals.

They don't have any fuckin' brains, either.

The world would be a better place without them...

It was a Christian that suggested to Kaepernick to kneel instead of sitting on the bench. A Christian vet told him.

Weird Christian in the OP, he was advertising he was a Christian, is all it was. Look at me, I'm a Christian!! Woopy ding.

Wow!

This lifelong coward really admires that baseball player's courage.

In 2020, everyone is expected to kowtow to a certain group of folks.

In fact, one CEO said that everyone should shine those folks' shoes.

I am guessing that he will eventually cave.

They all do.

Indeed...

Idiot dipshit liberals lost their fucking minds when Tim Tebow kneeled on the field because of his beliefs, but now it's suddenly okay because negroes knelt for theirs?

The left is cloaked in the stench of their hypocrisy...

You would prefer he say that Black Lives Don't Matter ?

O.K. I'm O.k. with that.

Talking about the justice is not the same as putting yourself into the fray to acquire it. The players need to step it up and donate most of their wealth to the cause. They won't of course. the mansions....oh the mansions. So the working class schmuck will be charge more out of his paycheck to pay for the "wrongs" in our society.

I'm sick of the bullshit appeasement of blacks. It has to stop...
What has to stop is the abuse black people have to put up with.

Then they better stop acting like unfed chimps in a zoo and start acting responsibly.

Nothing will change for the better as long as the riots continue. No one on the right is too interested in conversing with a pack of animals...

Just wait...
When the numbers come in all this bullshit will end.
Cant wait until the owners tell the players sorry,we dont have the money to pay your salaries.
