Zone1 Get to know some Amish

Why not use technology? What about schools? 3 straight hours in church? I wanted to know more about the Amish and am pleased to have watched all of the following video. Try it yourself.

Only the hard core Amish don't use any technology at all.

Most other Amish clans have electricity, gas, running water and the guy who is in charge has a cell phone for use in case of emergencies.

Amish have a presence in Ohio. Holmes county to be exact. Familiar with the horse crap on the road as well. Hit a fresh speed bump on my Vespa and it made a mess. Made the ride home fragrant as well.

Mennonites are about as far as I go with the way-back machine....They really like guns so I get along with them just fine.....They are savvy too, you won't get over on them.

The Amish have two serious problems.
Oppression of women.
Inbreeding caused congenital abnormalities that they do not have the resources to address.
As fare as morals go they have no problem growing tobacco

I deal with them all the time. I run fishing charters. They like to fish. I will have a group of them about once a week. Iam fond of most of them. Most the groups the guy in charge has a cell phone. I collect those numbers to market selling them more fishing trips and if they do construction I will sometimes sub out some work to them. I flip houses so they come in handy. Their work is not cheap but they complete projects quickly with high quality. I use them in upper end flip homes commonly. They are easy to deal with and work hard. Barndominiums are becoming popular in my area. I collect enough Amish numbers I might expand into building those. There is not enough history for the barndominiums so they are harder to value and therefore harder to finance. I need to understand the financing aspect of it better before taking the leap but it may be a developing niche. One that would likely have me dealing with the Amish more. I should likely be collecting the contacts to hog and beef farmers. Could be getting sides of beef and hogs with no middle man.

I know several Mennonites. They're nice folks. The next door neighbors of property I own out in the country here in Ohio near the Indiana and Michigan borders are Mennonites.

One morning I was ice fishing out there on one of the large ponds/small lakes and the guy came over, introduced himself and invited me to the men's fellowship breakfast at their church. That's the first time I ever tasted farm fresh eggs straight from the nest to the griddle. I never knew what I was missing all my life. They're ******* delicious!

Liberals love the Amish, mostly because they wear exotic costumes (there's something to that).

In reality, as a Christian, I'm not a fan. They are VERY, and I mean VERY, legalistic with things that are not Biblical. For example, some Amish can't have zippers (some can). Amish dolls can't have faces because it's "idolatry". Etc, etc, etc....with many of these rules being invented and or supported by the human leader.

I realize they are peaceful, hard-working people and I appreciate that. But their religion? No

I'm not saying they're not Christian--I am saying they're very LEGALISTIC Christians, which many people miss. Many people think they're ideal Christians. Not really.
