How big are they? How fast are they growing? How radicalized are they?
I don't even know those and paid no attention to German politics when I was there for less than a year, back in the mid-80s. Friends tell me, the country is vastly different now.
What do those initials stand for, and can you characterize their party beliefs?
You guys appear to have many parties.
I suppose we do, also, but most are not players. As you know, we mostly have two main parties, but inside those parties are large sections with some pretty shitty (often dangerous) views, but still under one of the two party banners and accepted or even encouraged by the parties of choice. Neither of our two parties are worthy of consistent support. Locally and statewise, I tend to (more often than not) vote Republican, but nationally waffle based on who is most likely to cause the least national and international harm. I wish us both luck, in your country and mine.
Good luck, over there. I like Germany, though I am told it is a lot different than when I served there, many years ago.The AfD is growing fast. In Thuringia I estimate they grew in the last 10 years about 12% every year. In whole Germany they are still relativelly unimportant. They are not "radicalized" in their deeds but in their ideas and verbal expressions - and they are very clear in total an extremist party under control of Nazis. The moment they will overtake Germany the German democracy will be dead.

Essentially, to help the German out, you have 6 viable political parties.
You have the Traditional left and right parties. The SPD are the traditional left party, the CDU/CSU the traditional right party. It means they aren't extreme, they stand for generally accepted left and right things. The CDU is the main party, the CSU is the Bavarian "sister party" though when I was in Bavaria I saw Angela Merkel walk into the local Rathaus and was disappointed that Helmut Kohl didn't go with her.
Then you have the two left wing parties. Die Gruene are the left wing green party, environmental issues are their thing. Then you have Die Linke who are the more radical left, they're more into unions and workers rights and fighting for the cause and all that.
Then you have the two right wing parties. The FDP are the center right, they're more of an economic party, being less radical than the CDU (who aren't that radical, but are the big party and you get some nutters in any big party). Then you have the AfD who are the more radical, maybe call them "further right" like Die Linke would be "further left". Not extreme enough to be be "far right" but more extreme than most would like. The AfD push for Germany out of the EU, and struggle to contain their racism at times.
Then you have other random parties. You need 5% of the voter to get seats, OR you need to win a FPTP seat, OR you need 5% of the vote in a Land (state) when you only run in that one Land. Happened with the South Schleswig Voters' Association in 2021.
The most prominent party that never wins seats in the federal election are the NPD who are basically the Nazis.

We both fly through the nights
Sailing through the day
In the beginning I was sure
That I didn't like her
She grinned so wide
But her gaze was like looking through glass
Her sentences like torpedoes
And every laugh was right
You're the dancer in the storm
You're a child on thin ice
You throw love all around you
And you always hit me
Like a duel I see her
Walking through the store
Where the cokeheads stand still
Standing on the walls
The happy desert
Where the barmaid stings like a scorpion
And the girls like in cellophane
All playing the saxophone
And there she sat, backwards on the chair
With the backrest forward
And asks: “Hey, what are we both doing here?”
You're the dancer in the storm
You're a child on thin ice
You throw love all around you
And you always meet me
...
You're the dancer in the storm
You're a child on thin ice
You throw love all around you
And you always hit me
We both fly through the nights
Sailing through the day
By now I'm sure
You know I like you
Now I'm sitting here next to you
We're driving through the wet city
Hey, come on, let's empty your tank!
Until it rains out
You're the dancer in the storm
You're a child on thin ice
You throw love all around you
And you always hit me
Frankfurt, Kitzingen and a few other places at different times.where did you live in Germany then?
Yesterday, the Brandenburg AfD guy was in the interview on ARD. While the death-to-Israel protesters have yet to be criticized, the interviewer accused him of anti-semitism because he used the term "global elites" somewhere, which refers to "the Jews" according to the interviewer.the media tend to mention only the big parties.
i think any party that people voted for has a right that the result is listed in the media
