George Will: President Obama's magic words and numbers - The Washington Post
The piece contains many examples showing the disconnect between Obama's universe and the one we inhabit. And the closing remark is right on the money.
....
Many of the words and numbers bandied by Obama and his administration may reflect an honest belief that the world is whatever well-intentioned people like them say about it. So, Obama’s critics should reconsider their assumption that he is cynical. It is his sincerity that is scary.
It's a relief that the majority of Americans now seem to have some grasp of how untrustworthy Obama is, but it's still frightening that so many could ever have been swept up into his magical universe to begin with. And we still have to get through 3 more years.
I will say that George is very, very close.
I have become convinced that very, very few of them are well-intentioned anymore.
I think there are several categories liberals fall into. Some really believe that government taking care of people is the answer. I think many of the people with that mindset are unsophisticated and have a simplistic view of life. When more and more people become poor as a result of the nanny government, it's blamed on others. It's always the same excuse. Things got worse because the right didn't cooperate and people didn't obey. (That damn free will people have) If we don't do exactly as we're told, their ideas will fall apart. And we aren't supposed to complain about things, like Obamacare, because somehow it's our fault it isn't working. With Obamacare, the middle class is suffering and the left is perfectly fine with that. I guess they figure it's our turn since we had the luxury of actually choosing our own insurance and paying for it. Now we can't choose, many of us have nothing, yet we still get to pay for other people. And it's a lot more expensive. Liberals defend that because they either believe that someone is stopping it from working or they know what's happening and they look forward to the destruction of the middle class, which is a must for socialism.
Some liberals know better, but desperately want socialism and are willing to tell whatever lies are necessary to make that happen. They are smart enough to know that historically, no people ever welcomed socialism and it needs to be pushed bit by bit while leaders claim it's for the greater good. That worked well in the past, but was much more difficult in America. Too many understand history and reject socialism because they know it doesn't work. Liberals counter logical arguments by vilifying people and convincing the less sophisticated people, especially dependents, that anyone wanting to remain a capitalist, free society is a greedy wealthy person. Liberals constantly push that myth in an attempt to minimize the voices of reason. They mock anyone who talks about freedom, liberty and personal responsibility. Carney recently claimed that freedom is just a buzzword, as if it was invented by the right. That is an example of how they attempt to dismiss those who understand what true freedom really is all about.
The liberal leaders might dream of being the next Castro. Dictators are always grossly wealthy, involved in capitalism and cherish their own freedom and liberty, even as they deny those things to the people they rule. I have heard many liberals praise the likes of Castro and other dictators. They admire them despite the way they oppressed people and ignored the suffering of their people while they enjoyed their own utopia.
Leaders who seek to dictate are narcissists, but it goes further. I honestly believe it's mental illness.
The ones who initially support them tend to be desperate and desire to be taken care of and some are "educated" but far from intelligent.
