It has become clear to the moderation staff that the Clean Start and Original Content rules are the most consistently violated rules on the forum, and admittedly, I have been one of them on more than one occasion. As such, I have felt it necessary to clarify these rules further. After this final clarification, it will no longer be possible for current or future members to claim ignorance of these rules when posting.
Posters who violate these rules will be given a chance to alter their threads to comply. Refusal to comply or failure to respond to prompts from a moderator will result in the thread being locked or deleted.
Further Clarification of Clean Start Rules and Original Content Requirements:
First of all, the original content rules come from two distinct places and have nothing to do with the Clean Start rules.
1) You must include relevant on-topic material of your own.
This is a mandatory site-wide rule, and is enforced across the entire forum. This is known as the "Original Content" rule.
2) As the Zone 2 requirements specify:
"Content in opening posts must be two sentences or more and must contain the opinion of the member starting the thread."
Titles and Opening Posts:
Titles and opening posts must be free of INFLAMMATORY words, name-calling, and "pet names."
This is known as the "Clean Start" rule. It only governs posts and threads in Zone 2.
Regarding the Ambiguity of what Constitutes "Inflammatory words, name-calling, and 'pet names.'"
1) Inflammatory words are defined as words used to intentionally cause anger and belligerence in a person. More normally known as trolling.
Simply put by Grok:
An inflammatory statement is one designed to provoke strong emotional reactions, often by being provocative or divisive. For example: "Anyone who supports that policy is a traitor to their country and should be treated as such."
2) Name-calling speaks for itself. Referring to others as "bigots" or "traitors," and other words such as "*****" or "asshole."
3) And 'pet names,' in political or other contexts, consist of words such as "Cheeto," "Orange Man," "Birdbrain," "MAGATs," or "FAGATs.
I hope this provides a better understanding of our content rules. Please refer to this post if you are unsure, or ask a moderator for guidance.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
