Yes, I enjoy the Beatles, and oldies, but for pure indulgence, a Beethoven Symphony, a Mozart Divertimento, a Vivaldi Concerto simply are music from heaven. The more you listen to it while being mindful of how long these have been admired, and how much real talent went into them, the more you will enjoy Classicals.
When we listened to Hungarian Rhapsody #2 by Franz Lizst, my wife said "That reminds me of Porky Pig running over the hill!"
The William Tell Overture by Rossini - anyone, anyone. Anyone?
Now after you have listened to these for years, or if you already have been doing that, try this experiment. Keep a log of music that plays on your radio or cable classical music station and try to identify, just by listening, the composer and/or the piece being played. When you can get one or both, log it on your laptop with date and time! After you have successfully logged a few of them, you'll be amazed at how many you can get. Vivaldi is the easiest and Scarlatti is next after the most famous classics, such as Beethoven's symphonies and Rossini's overtures.
If you don't enjoy classical music, I'm afraid you can't be on my Friend List. It's just that simple. (wink, nudge)
