I think we all can agree that this is a big violation of this kids freedom of speech.

I would have to agree. I am amazed that an 11 year old would wear something so inflammatory though. I don't know about you, but when I was 11 I was not able to competently make my own decisions about politics. It makes me believe his parents had a lot to do with this and I think it is pretty sad that they use their son as a medium to express their own political beliefs. It does say that they gave him the option of turning it inside out, which is pretty common when shirts are deemed too explicit or inflammatory. You have to remember these are very young children, what would be acceptable for high schoolers is not necessarily appropriate for fifth graders. I don't necessarily agree with the decision, but I understand it. Honestly, I am more pissed that a parent used his son to make a political statement on his behalf. That is pathetic if you ask me.

So Obama's daughters can't wear Pro-Obama shirts???????
So Obama's daughters can't wear Pro-Obama shirts???????
My 13 year old daughter is proud of her shirt that states
"No thanks, I am raised conservative. I can take care of myself."
Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican
Joe gets up at 6:00am to prepare his morning coffee. He fills his pot full of good clean drinking water because some liberal fought for minimum water quality standards.
He takes his daily medication with his first swallow of coffee. His medications are safe to take because some liberal fought to insure their safety and work as advertised.
All but $10.00 of his medications are paid for by his employers medical plan because some liberal union workers fought the ir employers for paid medical insurance, now Joe gets it too. He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs this day. Joes bacon is
safe to eat because some liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing
industry.
Joe takes his morning shower reaching for his shampoo; His bottle is properly labeled with every ingredient and the amount of its contents because some liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained. Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some tree hugging liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air. He walks to the subway station for his government subsidized ride to work; it saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees. You see, some liberal fought for affordable
public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his work day; he has a good job with excellent pay, medicals benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joes employer pays these standards because Joes employer doesnt want his employees to call the union. If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed hell get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some liberal didnt think he should loose his home because of his temporary misfortune.
Its noon time, Joe needs to make a Bank Deposit so he can pay some bills. Joes deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some liberal wanted to protect Joes money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae underwritten Mortgage and his below market federal student loan because some stupid liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his life-time.
Joe is home from work, he plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive to dads; his car is among the safest in the world because some liberal fought for car safety standards. He arrives at his boyhood home. He was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers Home Administration because bankers didnt want to make rural loans. The house didnt have electric until
some big government liberal stuck his nose where it didnt belong and demanded rural electrification. (Those rural Republicans would still be sitting in the dark)
He is happy to see his dad who is now retired. His dad lives on Social Security and his union pension because some liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldnt have to. After his visit with dad he gets back in his car for the ride home.
He turns on a radio talk show, the hosts keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. (He doesnt tell Joe that his beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day) Joe agrees, We dont need those big government liberals ruining our lives; after all, Im a self made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.

But it is equally stupid for schools more interested in teaching kids to unroll condoms to expore their inner fag instead
What percentage of homophobes are what? Homosexuals? Were you born such an ignorant asshole, or did you have to work on this?
What percent of homophobes are?
actually if you look at the dress code of most schools children are not allowed to wear inflammatory/disruptive clothing. My daughter wore a shirt that belonged to me once that called Bush an American Terrorist and I was called and told to bring her another shirt. It works both ways.
It is interesting that a 5th grader would be so inclined to wear a shirt like that... couldn't be his parents put him up to it now could it?
your arguments are so childish KMAN... are you seriously comparing the child of a candidate to the child of an admitted right wing nutter?
the boy was given the choice to change his shirt, turn it inside out or get suspended. He wore the shirt KNOWING it would cause controversey..... There ARE dress codes in schools...they can't wear just anything they want ya know...
My 13 year old daughter is proud of her shirt that states
"No thanks, I am raised conservative. I can take care of myself."
But if it would have just been an anti-Obama or a Pro-McCain shirt.. I would then argue it... my middle school daughter's teachers have Obama paraphernalia all over the place.. bumper stickers on blackboards, etc... if they can force it down the throats of kids, a kid with an opposing opinion should be allowed to have a statement back
This is why all schools should have a uniform requirement.
I wore my sister's law school latin t-shirt that said don't let the bastards get you down in the 9th grade.
Thankfully, then, as now, most of the teachers were too stupid to know what it meant.
