Well...I guess that's why we call it the Wild West eh?
This sort of thing has been going on forever...firearms and alcohol--a potent mixture.

Four people are dead after a shooter opened fire at Anaconda’s Owl Bar at approximately 10:30 a.m. Friday, according to a press release from the Montana Department of Justice.

“Authorities are searching for a suspect who is believed to be armed west of Anaconda near Stumptown Road and Anderson Ranch Loop Road,” DOJ Press Secretary Chase Sheuer wrote in the release sent at 2:20 p.m. Friday.

The suspect was identified as 45-year-old Michael Paul Brown, who lived next door to the bar, according to public records reported on by the Associated Press. Authorities said his home was cleared by a SWAT team and that he was last seen in the Stump Town area, which is just west of Anaconda.

In a 1:20 p.m. Friday post on X, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said that its Denver office is “responding to a shooting where multiple parties have been shot at a business in Anaconda.”

Blake Hempstead, a local sports reporter in the area, posted on X, "Anaconda is in a mini lock down while police search for a gunman who shot numerous people at the Owl Bar. Don't leave your house or come this way until this cowardly POS is found by our law enforcement officers."

His post continued, "High speed chase is heading west towards Georgetown Lake. Local officers and highway patrol with what was apparently looked like guns drawn according to an eyewitness. This is not supposed to go down here."

Anaconda has a total population of nearly 10,000 people.
Made up mostly of ranchers and farmers.
It's guaranteed that if the State troops on't get him, one of the ranchers or farmers will.

Been through there on a motorbike trip once....It's literally the middle of nowhere.

Who the hell is drinking in a bar at 10:30 in the morning?

You’d be surprised. There are people who have to tough out the time between 2 am and 6 am when bars are mandated to be closed here. They’re often the ones grabbing a sixer or two on their way out at closing time.

Guess you've never spent time in places like Anaconda, Cut Bank, Eureka, Black Eagle, Belt or RoundUp Montana. Then there's the ever faithful Stockman's Bar located in every town mentioned above. Yes they open early and close at 2 A.M..
