The National Black Farmers Association is calling on Republican Vice-Presidential candidate JD Vance to apologize for comments claiming the Biden-Harris administration handed out farm benefits to growers based on skin color.

Vance appeared to be referring to payments made in July under Section 22007 of the Inflation Reduction Act to socially disadvantaged farmers who had experienced discrimination in USDA farm lending programs dating back to the 1940s.

In the comments made on CBS’ Face the Nation on Sunday, Aug. 11, Vance did not mention that Section 22006 of the Act had provided payments to all farmers experiencing financial stress almost immediately after it was signed into law in August of 2022. Section 22007 payments were not made until last month

While many people may have traits that might be considered narcissistic, that is not the same as narcissistic personality disorder. “Only when these traits are inflexible, maladaptive, and persisting and cause significant functional impairment or subjective distress do they constitute narcissistic personality disorder” (APA 2022). In addition, the DSM-5-TR notes that while some narcissistic traits may be common in adolescents, they “do not necessarily indicate that the individual will develop narcissistic personality disorder in adulthood.”
