A Texas megachurch founder and former spiritual adviser to President Trump was indicted in Oklahoma Wednesday for alleged child sexual abuse crimes dating back to the 1980s.

The big picture: Robert Preston Morris, 63, who founded the Gateway Church in the Dallas suburb of Southlake, faces five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child, according to the indictment.

Details: Morris is accused of committing the offenses on a girl from when she was 12 until she was 14.

• Prosecutors allege the offenses began in December 1982 when Morris was a traveling evangelist visiting the accuser's family in Hominy, Okla., and continued for the next four years, per a statement from the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office.
• An attorney for Morris, who resigned from his role as senior pastor last June following child molestation allegations, declined to comment to local media.

Zoom out: Morris founded the Gateway Church in 2000 and it now has an estimated 100,000 attendees.

• Trump appointed Morris to his evangelical advisory committee and named him as a spiritual adviser in 2016 when the Republican leader was a presidential candidate.
• Morris hosted Trump at Gateway Church during a 2020 roundtable event. A spokesperson for Trump emphasized to the New York Times after the allegations emerged last year that the pastor had no role in his re-election campaign.

What they're saying: "There can be no tolerance for those who sexually prey on children," said Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond in a statement. "This case is all the more despicable because the alleged perpetrator was a pastor who exploited his position."

When such a person engages with a boy, it always seems like it is a pattern of behavior with many victims. With a girl? Maybe not.

Regardless, if this is true he needs to be removed from the ministry and punished to the full extent of the relevant law.

So there are two victims, but the accused is not the one who abused them.

This is about something that happened in 1982, to which supposedly he admitted to.

He lied while "admitting" his "relationship"
He told everyone that the girl was 16....the truth was she was 12 years old. He claimed it only involved petting and kissing....that was another lie. He forced her into having penetrative vaginal sex with him. He claimed that he was her victim that she demanded he continue the affair with blackmail even during his wife's pregnancy and delivery.

He was 21-22 when the 12 year old child was raped by him initially and it continued over the next 4½ years...because he manipulated her.

What's even more appalling is that he claimed that she seduced him. Making the entire thing her fault. (Blaming the victim)


Then....even more disturbing is that his victim contacted Gateway Church through HER LAWYER in 2005 as well as the current DA in Oklahoma over the incident. AND NOTHING HAPPENED....until this last year (2024) when she made her story public by contacting news media outlets. Then Morris's resigned. (He is now 63 and eligible to retire....and retirement savings are not touchable by lawsuits)

This is true....
Unfortunately what I disclosed in my previous post about the cover ups by him and the church leadership makes the entire situation worse.

IF he had just paid the thousands she asked for , for her therapy she had to get over the years stemming from the abuse he perpetrated upon her....all would have been shushed up. But he and the church stiffed her on the psychologist bills.
