He also gave amnesty to a bunch of illegal aliens, was a total fucking tool for the intelligence apparatus to ensure "fair elections" in Central America, presided over a 444 day hostage crisis of 66 Americans from when Iranians stormed the American Embassy, gave away the Panama Canal, gave Americans malaise and stagflation, and was a shining example of someone who thought the Bible and the Communist manifesto were the same book.

But if anything, President Carter deserves credit for delivering one of the best things to happen to America in generations: President Ronald Reagan.

Carter was a good man. Bad ideas he followed, but a good man.

The man was impressive in that he was humble even as he rose to be the most powerful man in the world. He possessed that southern personality that citizens anywhere would be drawn to. Polite, a good listener, calm demeanor. You feel you could have a drink with him and learn something about life and he would sway you to some of his way of thinking.

His era seems to be gone due to the pressures and stress of the world, so many more challenges that didn't exist for the average citizen in his time.
