I turned 16 right after he was elected, but I would have voted for Ford. My uncle and got into a serious discussion at a family get together right before the election. As a farmer, he loved the idea of electing Carter, and he won. It is a fond memory of him.

I was 18 and excited to be voting for the first time. Carter was appealing as an aw shucks Peanut Farmer who was going to look out for the common man. He turned out to be a disaster as a President but he had great personal integrity and loved America. Unlike todays' Democrat leaders.
