This is the second of my unscientific polls to satisfy my curiosity about where the posters here at the Israel/Palestine section are 'coming' from.

So, here is another autonomous poll about whether you have visited, or will, or not, etc. I think I'll make it so you can vote for more than one, if I can, because for me there are a few variables. Again, you are welcome to make comments here. Here are mine:

Myself, I used to be fascinated by the Roman Empire when I was young. After I became a Christian many years ago, I then wanted to visit Israel. I didn't get the opportunity until a few years ago and after doing some heavy research, I visited Israel in late 2011. I found the country to be just awesome. It seemed to me that everyone whether Jewish, Arab, Muslim, Christian of Druze got along just fine. And I found some awesome Roman Ruins as well in Beit She'an (well elsewhere as well, but those were the best).

I must admit I was biased and actually tried to not spend too much time in the PA controlled areas, but that will probably change on my next trip in April of next year.

When I can transport in a matter of seconds.

Visited several times, lived for about 8 years, will go again (but probably not to Israel, unfortunately).

I went to Lebanon the first time in 1972 with a boyfriend, a Maronite. Went back in 1974 to live, intending to attend American University of Beirut. The Lebanese war intervened, my boyfriend joined the Kataeb, which led to me running for my life, as my allegiance did not change. I enrolled at AUB any number of times, but the semester was cancelled repeatedly. I next got a job that had me traveling throughout middle east and Europe for a number of years, but still spent about half of my time in Lebanon. I went to Israel several times, and my longest period there was a little over two years. I returned to U.S..in the mid-80s, finally attended college and have not been back since

Shameless bump to get more votes since this is getting buried . . .

I have been there a few times. It is awesome and not just if your Jewish. The history and artifacts are amazing. While I loved Jerusalem, my favorite was Mazada! It's a 4,000 year old fortress on a mountain top. The beaches are top notch. They are go as any in the world. It's a modern country and I felt safe at all times. Even when I was on Muslim occupied part of Jerusalem. I even went to Samaria and Judea and didn't feel scared.

I've been to Israel about 11 times, the last visit being in the summer of 2011.
My first time there I was one year old (1986).

Basically, my entire family lives there except my brother and parents who used to live there but moved here to Montreal in 1980.
I have quite a large family there, mostly in my moms side. She has 4 sisters and two brothers all of whom have kids and grand kids.
My father has one brother in Haifa who has thee kids and 8 grand kids.
So ya, I got lots of cousins :)

Isn't Masada great? When I was in Bar-Ilan, we made the trek in the wee hours of the morning, before the sun gets too hot, so the sun rose on us. It's not like climbing straight up, there's a winding path. But it's still the only mountain I ever climbed. And then to see the ancient synagogue and "mikvah" (ritual bath) of 2,000 years ago! Do Israeli soldiers still take their oaths there and say, "Never again"? Lipush, where did you take your oath?

I've only been to Israel once, in my younger wilder days ..... but I have family there, and family friends, and friends- even a high school classmate who made aliyah.

As a life member of Hadassah, I'm planning on going again to see what I've been privileged to help build there : )) I'm kind of hoping the son will be doing some work in genetics there someday......

I got to visit Metzada multiple times. One time I remember, was when I was about 10-11 years old, we took a trip with the scouts, 3 days in the desert. It was freezing cold, they woke us up about 3 in the morning, we walked two hours and climbed Metzada by foot. Nowdays you can get to the top through cable railway, but when I was a little girl it wasn't yet built. We had to go hiking all way up, through what is known as "The serpant path". It was a long climbing, but when we got to the top, It was at dawn, and we gut to see the sun breaking through the dark horizon. It was truly a breathtaking view, watching the sunrise through Metzada. This is one of the most beaituful memories I carry till today

In Haifa:lol:

The Navy doesn't have the budget to drive all the way down to the south for that:D

I kind of hope that this thread stays alive for a little while at least; if for no other reason as a relief from the argumentative threads we have here in this section.

So to spice it up a bit, when I visited in 2011, I stayed in Netanya, Tiberius, and Jerusalem. I saw Caesarea, the ancient cave (can't remember the name, but there was a school outing there at the same time) south of Haifa, Sephoris, Meggido, Mt Tabor, all the Christian sites on the north west shore of the Kinneret, Beit She'an, Masada, Lot's cave, and of course as much of the Old and New city as I could take in. I tried to visit Nazareth while I was staying in Tiberius, but it was on a Saturday, huge mistake. Total gridlock. Next time. My pictures:

Since others have posted where they visited (and how awesome it is!), I figured I'd not only give more details of my last trip, but raise the bar a bit with a link to a very few of the many pictures I took.

As for next year when I visit . . . . . .

Very nice pictures, Teddy. A doctor out here showed me a picture of his three young kids sitting on a camel while visiting over there, so on your next visit, how about you doing that for us to view. The last time I was on a camel was at the Children's Zoo in the Bronx. I don't know if I would be brave enough to get on one now, unless maybe if it was a short one. I sincerely wish you another good trip and that you are able to visit all the places you want to see.

We were supposed to go there, but the dang terrorist inbred Muslims were shelling Israel at the time so the port of call was cancelled.....................

After coming back from the Gulf, performing Tanker Escorts during the Iran Iraq War.

Gosh, they were killing each other back then tooooooooo..........And throwing mines into the Kuwaiti Mine Fields trying to get lucky and kill us too...............

Personally, I think Israel should stay put and we turn the whole dang region into a giant parking lot.

15th post
and we turn the whole dang region into a giant parking lot.

That thought has crossed my mind as well. At the least we should have made a couple of parking lots in Afghanistan instead of sending so many troops over there.

Well, thank those of you who have participated. From the posts I think I have a good feeling of where some of the 'regulars' in this section are coming from.
