• I was working as an MRI technologist back in the mid-late 90s and due to severe claustrophobia and chronic pain in some patients, keeping them calm and still required conscious sedation.

• We had a brand new Radiologist who had just finished a fellowship at Emory in Atlanta and he loved Fentanyl. The doses were weight dependent and were usually in micrograms. 1-2 MCG/KG. It slammed them down almost immediately but the biological half life was so brief that by the time the scan was over, they were totally back to baseline and ready to go home or back to their hospital room.
