The Tao is at its core the philosophy of flow.
But what exactly is flow? It can be defined as effortless effort.
We know it as "The Zone". That place where something just comes to you with no effort and no force is needed to drive your actions or thoughts. When in a flow state time dilates and hours seem to fly by as minutes. Our perception can change so that movement seems to slow down and our sense of vision is enhanced so details are sharper and even exaggerated. Flow often brings a feeling that your ideas are not coming from you but rather through you with no effort on your part.
It's a contradictory state where the stillness of the mind is combined with action but we all have experienced it. But flow eludes us when we strive to act.
Have you ever been told when attempting to act that you are trying to hard and you need to relax? Even without knowing the Tao we instinctually understand flow and The Way.
When we do not resist we live in flow with the universe.
