But the rest of those people are a part of important American History.

When I learned American history when I was in school.......it was AMERICAN HISTORY........not white history, black history, or any other races history, it was ALL OF US, because thats what American history IS......ALL OF US!!!

Agree. I wouldn't put Obama up because I do not mention living presidents/politicians. But the others: MLK, Carver, etc--no problem. Pretty bad of the person that took it down.

Their importance is overemphasized. Kids should be taught much more important things and ideas, like our Founding Father’s ideas, and taught how bad communism and socialism is.

Generally sick of teachers coming up with what they think are great ideas that have nothing to do with getting better at what they are supposed to be teaching, while providing them opportunities to have discussions they shouldn't be having with the kids.

I still remember my son's sixth grade science teacher who had them doing all kinds of stupid shit across multiple mediums when they had a very good science book to teach from. The kids were stressing out about everything but learning the subject. I asked him why he didn't just use the textbook, and he said, "Then I wouldn't feel like I'm being additive.". I told him the kids aren't in sixth grade science class to make him feel additive. He was making very straightforward content extremely confusing to learn. Very frustrating and typical. Talk about fixing things that aren't broken - that seems to be the mission of public education. Another classic - elementary school principal, who claims to have a math degree, when asked why they stopped doing math tables practice. She said, "we don't do drill and kill anymore". I said you mean practice for mastery? Unreal.
