Finally, someone is getting the picture. It's a shame the left is too blind to see this. They'll probably claim it's racism or something retarded like that.

Florida prosecutor's crackdown on repeat offenders leads to drop in violent crimes as Dem city crime soars

By targeting known violent criminals and seeking stiff penalties for the worst offenders, a Republican Florida prosecutor has reduced violent crime in her community as big cities with Democratic district attorneys around the country, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, are witnessing crime spikes.

"In 2021, Jacksonville’s murders were down 30% and overall shootings down 17% from the year prior, according to [Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office] data for non-domestic shooting incidents," David Chapman, a spokesperson for the Fourth Circuit State Attorney’s Office, told Fox News Digital. "Given last year’s downturn, our numbers to date aren’t far off the mark and thankfully have not spiked like other cities."

The Fourth Circuit covers Clay, Nassau and Duval counties and the city of Jacksonville and is led by State Attorney Melissa Nelson, who made waves for finding new ways to prosecute known criminals, such as pursuing firearms charges in connection with guns flaunted in music videos. She has sought stiffer sentences for people convicted of gun crimes.

Violent Easter weekend in Jacksonville

The last few days in the city have been really violent with a lot of questions and even fewer answers.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office had a busy holiday weekend. Three people were killed and four were wounded in six shootings in a span of 20 hours.
That count increased Monday afternoon to four killed in seven shootings in 35 hours after a man was shot to death on 103rd St. Police said the victim was found around 1:23 p.m. in the parking lot of the public library at 103rd Street and Harlow Boulevard. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police did not release the name of the victim.

The article was pretty easy to read. Is said "lower." Not eliminated. Funny how you missed that important part.

Not republicans. Just tougher prosecutors.
You can have the toughest yet, as we found out from previous attempts to get tough on crime the prisons are full and during poor economic periods funding for incarceration is not available due to budget cuts in states.

That's not something tough prosecutors and judges should be worried about. Their focus should be on people like Darrell Brooks Jr. Crime after crime, because of lazy prosecutors and lax judges, allowed this man out on the street to kill people.
Society is for people who are fit for society.

That's why they killed Jesus Christ.

The "Three Strike Law" (three violent felony convictions = A mandatory life sentence) works very well here in Virginia for the most part.

We also have a "Two Strike Law" for
  • Rape
  • Object penetration
  • Forcible sodomy

Does Virginia Have a Three Strikes Law? - Divorce & Criminal Lawyers in Chesapeake, VA or Suffolk, VA

Many states have them but the rub is DAs will let the offender plead to a lesser felony charge not subject to the law.

Three-strikes law - Wikipedia

Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee are the only states in the United States to date that have "two strikes" laws for the most serious violent crimes, such as murder, rape, serious cases of robbery, etc. and they all mandate a sentence of life imprisonment without parole for a conviction of any such crimes a second time around.

Yeah because 2020 was a 23 year high for city...

Violent crime trends down sharply in Jacksonville in 2021

Just got back to this thread. He in all honesty, any prosecutor that will enforce the laws on the books without announcing which ones they won't enforce, is better than many in Democrat strongholds like New York. As for Jacksonville, it is good they are improving, but still nothing to write home about.

YoursTruly has once again effortlessly disarmed the silly objections of lesser minds. The routine wisdom of his observations is sorely underrated on this board.

I thought Dems were perfect, you know, get your shots, mask up, groom kids, #metoo, unless the accused is a Democrat, then they are lying skanks. The left even uses the media to tell you what to think.

Canada is very liberal when it comes to letting people who murder go free after 25 years. How come they don't have this problem? Perhaps they have better prison systems?
