GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA: A Florida mom says her kids were punished in school for her politics, including one son being branded “Most Likely to Become a Dictator" by his own teacher.

Crystal Marull, a mother of two in Alachua County, raised the alarm this week, accusing her children’s schools of targeting them over her conservative stance on book bans.

The embattled mom voiced her concerns at a local meeting. “My son, 6 years old, was prohibited from sitting next to his friend on the school bus because a parent objected to my perspectives on book challenges,” Crystal Marull told officials.

Things escalated further in her older son’s history class. “My older son’s history teacher let students label him a ‘Naziphile’ simply for his interest in history and participation in ROTC,” she said.

“She later nominated my son as the ‘Most Liked to Become a Dictator’ and had his classmates vote on it and try to force him to the front of the class to receive the certificate, which he rightly refused, all because of his conservative values and our perspectives.”

Well, she can take solace in that in the grand scheme of things "dictator" is a much higher level of human achievement than liberal "teacher". ;)

No doubt DeSantis will go in dry on the school and county school board over this. He’s been cleaning up the university ( University of Florida) located there a good bit from what I understand.

I've always been a WWII buff, since I first started reading about the Third Reich in 5th grade. I never became a dictator (yet)

In 4th grade I got an award for sloppiest handwriting. Oddly it never made the news.
They gave you an award? When I was a kid, I would have just gotten corporal punishment for that.

Times were different then.

Society these days is all about stopping bullying, but the simple fact of the matter is, bullying always starts with what the teachers and administration show themselves to tolerate.

It has always been this way.

your desire to use education to indoctrinate our young is you being a bad person.

We must purge education of people like you.

Doesn't take much to trigger you.

A child being bullied based on political differences by a teacher? To you that is not "much"?

My point stands. People like you need to be purged from education.

Sounds to me like she is arguing that he could be just like Trump one day.

Being as politics is a cult, that is how it should be taught. Blasphemy what this teacher did, eh?
Yours, or her, personal feelings on this don't matter.

While I agree with you that politics takes on a cult-like veneer, that opinion should not be forced on those who disagree, especially in an educational setting. That isn't what tax-payers are paying their property tax for.

Authority figures in school that bully kids are absolutely unacceptable, and they ought to be dismissed.

Nice that you agree with it though.

Personally I don't believe it an opinion.

Id think you'd find it a complement. How many have argued that our president should just ignore the courts and do as he pleases? Or in other words, a dictator?
