Florida law will create safety barrier for first responders, will go into effect on Jan. 1

My daughter, who is a paramedic, told me they always answer inquiries with, "shark attack!".
lol Admiral
i can recall many a car accident where folks would pull up , roll a window down and ask 'what happened?'

i'd say 'plane crash', and spin on my heel , while they looked confused .......

we really had no time to talk.......

Should be a felony to assault a first responder. Maybe in some states it is.

Meanwhile, a teacher in my school got kicked in the side by a student, hard. She was told to stop talking about it, as it didn't "protect the dignity of the child".

I wish I were making this up

I'm in an elem school so no. And anyway, you can't give detention to kids who are just "dysregulated", or "seeking attention", or "overstimulated", etc.

If we did have detention, it would be the teachers receiving it for not "building relationships" with the kids, etc

I had no idea Sue, so wtf is done about these kids who are out of line?

It sure aint easy being a teacher these days, I remember a group of us kids standing in line for "swats", and the principal gave them, a man named Dan Hines, he was about 6'4" and I guess that's why he was the one doing it.

I never wanted them again, and I didn't get in trouble again. When we give the power to immature students then we have failed as adults.

I have no desire to swat kids ever, and don't think that's appropriate in the schools. BUT, we would do well just to bring back consequences.

Yea the means don’t have to be corporal punishment but no detention? WTF is up with that?

Education has some of the worst "managers" (ie, Admin) you will ever see. Frankly terrible. That's much of the problem. Don't want to make waves or stand up to anything or anyone.

So yeah, the common saying now is "all behavior is communication". So if Jayden is 10 yo and being a crapper, the teacher is supposed to decipher what the student is trying to "communicate". Many, many times, the 10 yo boy is trying to make his friends laugh. That's it. And if you let him get away with it, he will continue to do it (btw, I love to laugh and try to teach my students laughter is okay, but there's TIME and PLACE)

I don't see 1A auditors being aggressive. It is very passively standing and video recording for the most part. I do see cops aggressively approaching the 1A auditors and acting shocked that they don't get immediate cooperation when the start barking orders.

Barking orders at a person violating no law whatsoever, but who they "got calls on."

My favorite is the public trail maintained by the National Park Service along side the Vice-President's residence in DC ... stand there video'ing the Secret Service agents and boy-oh-boy does the SS get upset ...

HA HA HA HA ...

DC Police quit showing up ... it's a lawful activity under NPS rules ... Secret Service can't do a thing to stop the Auditors ...

SS = Secret Service, not Schutzstaffel

Yes. These rubbernecks with I-Phones should be arrested.

You're subhuman.

The public can "watch" as much as they want. They can record to their heart's content. What they can't do, and what is already illegal in every state, is interfere with performance of first responder duties.

Interference is not always easy to define - except when you're on the scene - and there is no magic distance when your activities cease being watching and start being interference.

I suspect this law - while good intentioned - will prove unnecessary in most cases and unworkable in the rest.

It's certainly not "good intentioned." It is intended to prevent people from recording police misconduct, as well as giving bad cops a way to threaten, arrest, or murder people.

The why bother with a new law?

Because the bad cops do not want to be held accountable.
