I think other than the more devout Roman Catholics and perhaps some other 'Orthodox" disciplines, most Christians don't think about it a great deal. On good Friday this year I had cheese enchiladas so had neither meat nor fish. But growing up in a Methodist family we, most of our friends/neighbors and the schools had fish on Fridays as custom rather than out of any particular religious discipline. So that would include Good Friday too.

Over the decades I think most Americans no longer observe that custom.

I remember fish sticks for Friday lunch, in grade school.

Yeah, my very devout in-laws did not observe the meat abstinence rule.
