New international student enrollments continue to decline at U.S. universities
New enrollments of international students fell by 6.6 percent at American universities in academic year 2017-18 compared to the year before, marking the second straight year in declines in new enrollments, according to new data from the annual Open Doors survey.
Among the findings, institutions in the center of the country -- specifically the South Central region, which includes Texas, and the West North Central region -- are seeing sharper declines than are institutions on the coasts. Less selective institutions are also seeing steeper declines.
(some could argue they just don’t want to go to a shit hole part of the country)
There were also declines in the overall number of students coming from America's neighbors, Canada and Mexico, two countries where President Trump is deeply unpopular.
The first recorded drop in new enrollments came in academic year 2016-17.
Among the top 10 states hosting international students, there were increases in the total number of international students (including OPT participants) in No. 1 destination California (+3.2 percent), No. 2 New York (+2.4 percent), No. 4 Massachusetts (+8.4 percent), No. 5 Illinois (+2.2 percent), No. 6 Pennsylvania (+1.3 percent) and No. 7 Florida (+1.7 percent), and declines in No. 3 Texas (-0.9 percent), No. 8 Ohio (-2.8 percent), No. 9 Michigan (-0.7 percent) and No. 10 Indiana (-2 percent).

That’s the problem with your kind commenting on colleges and universities. If you don’t go and don’t know anyone who went then you can only imagine what they’re actually teaching there.Correlation does not equal causation.a malignant parasite said:Something stupid.
It could just be foreign parents don't want to send their kids to schools more concerned about putting tampons in Men's Rooms than actually educating their children.
That's exactly right.
When you have imbeciles like AOC coming out with a "degree" in economics and enters the public regurgitating marxist drivel anyone with a brain would avoid having their kids indoctrinated there.
Most of our "higher education" institutions should be sued for malpractice and fraud when they have graduates advocating a country do what the soviets, chi-coms, the khmer rouge, the cubans, the Norks or the Venezuelans, et al have done. You have to be Deanturd level Weapons Grade Stupid to see a problem with people rejecting that, or the asinine perversion and deviance passed off as "tolerance".
.
I for one do not believe in Merit immigration. Students stay after their college degrees and H1B visas take jobs away from citizens (mainly Stem jobs). People that come here should start on the lower ladder like everyone before them. Then their kids can go to college, instead of people who already have money, health ins, careers, like tramp wants.
We should have enough Stem students graduating, to meet the challenges of today jobs.
Merit immigration will take your grandchildren's jobs.
There simply aren’t enough Democrats and liberals. And we know Republicans believe college is bad for America. So we have to look somewhere.I for one do not believe in Merit immigration.
