Fear of a black president

If this guy is wrong about these people; what's your explanation?
He's distorting and over generalizing about people he has never met.

Then tell me, what is the motivation of people who rail against facts? Like, where he was born; death panels in the healthcare bill; socialists policies. When any sane examination of the facts show he was born in Hawaii, there were no death panels in the health care bill, and based on a long standing definition of socialism, his actions have not been socialist.

Please explain to me what is the motivation of these people? It's not the facts.
What's your motivation in trying to explain the motivations of people you don't know, if not to marginalize them?

Hmmmmmm??

Why are liberals so obsessed with race? It's just not something I care about that in a representative.

He's half black. Why on earth does it matter? Even if he was of English-Irish descent, I would oppose his agenda because it doesnt help this nation.

Its a good excuse for his inabilty, claim its all racism.

Understand them. You don't know who or what you're dealing with if you don't understand them and their motivations. Do you disagree?

I totally agree.

Its his policies and agenda that I don't like. Could care less what color the man is.

The red-faced freak-outs by many of the whites who turned up at Town Hall meetings around the nation through August, Poussaint said, are indications that conscious and subconscious racist beliefs among some whites have found a ready repository in the form of the 44th President.
These are the people he's referring. They showed up this summer declaring they didn't want no government health care eventhough they were on medicare. They railed agains death panel; though none existed in the bill (you would have to include Palin since she started and stuck by the lie).

If this guy is wrong about these people; what's your explanation?
Well, the fact that you have two talking points, dishonest ones at that, in your little reply here is very telling.

Tell me something. You say that this guy is talking about the people who last summer, went to town hall meetings to voice their disagreement with the proposed legislation on health care.

This clown in the article makes all kinds of claims of frothing at the mouth, wild-eyed whites being racist because they don't want a black president.

Yet, the anger that was expressed was not at the President, was it? It was at the representative that was in the room. Be that a House member or a Senator, they were voicing their anger at not being listened to by the member in the room. Not once was Mr. Obama at one of these town hall meetings.

So I have to conclude that the person who wrote this article did so for the sole purpose of silencing dissent in our country. Dissent against a bad policy for this country. He (and you) cannot win the debate of the proper role of government in health care and so he (and you) have fallen back to attempting to paint those who oppose your radical agenda as frothing, crazy white people who have a deep seated hatred of a black man in office.

Now, why don't you go read what you posted and tell Me that you can't see that.

The telling part was when the self-appointed expert stated, whether people admit it or not race is the issue. What that means to me is he could not gather even the slightest bit of data to support his claim. Where I come from we call it an opinion. Those are worthless at the grocery checkout.

I call bullshit.

You're sitting somewhere reading something written by someone else who you don't know, who is subsequently making speculations and projections about people that he doesn't know, in order to "understand" them?

Bullshit, bullshit and bullshit.

Funny thing is, I'm now hearing blacks who not only voted for him, but campaigned for him, saying he's not black after all....

I'd like to see how any liberal would explain how Obama, a black president, got elected in this wildly racist nation of ours. I mean, there's no way any white people could've voted for him? You know, white people being racists and all.

It's just like anything in the news. One person or a small group of people do something out of the ordinary, it garners attention because it's out of ordinary. Racism definitely exists but not nearly as much as some people would have you believe, as evidenced by Obama's election into the highest office. So, let's leave it alone already.
I asked C.Bass.

He said Whites voted for Obama because they didn't want to look racist even thought they are.

 Sadly, knowing Bass....I believe that he said exactly that.

Again, 50% of whites voted for Obama, more than 95% of blacks voted for him, where is the racism?

Look in a mirror, Charlie.

When did we change back to black? I thought he was a negro president. Actually I thought he was the American President.

Wow when I saw the thread title I figured this had to be at least 14-15 months old.
Are the far left that are critical of The Obama on Healthcare for example racist too?

It's a like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde scenario with the Leftist nutters. They only seem to want to talk about the African American (Mr. Hyde) half of Barack Obama. They always exclude his White (Dr. Jekyll) half from the conversation. The man is both black & white. It's time for the Leftist nutters to accept this and stop all the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde race-baiting stuff. If you're going to talk about this President then you have to accept that he is both black & white. End of story.

Why? He doesn't accept his white 1/2, why should his followers?

That is quite a statement/question Sheila. What evidense do you have that Obama hates white people? Source please?

I am more troubled by your statement than anything I have heard Obama say about race.

Personally I think he is genuine and honest. I believe his failures to get made his campaigne promises have been the fault of racists from many directions that have tried to block, delay and kill what he was elected to accomplish.

He is one man. His opposition though a minority have worked tirelessly to see him and us fail. How easily you forget that he and the american voter won an election not to put a black or half black man on a pedistal but to make health care a reality for all americans. That was the number one concern in the 08 election. Everything but the kitchen sink has been thrown at him and yet he still stands firm. I am a true old school republican and I admire him. I do not look to him to validate the color of my skin. I look to him to do his job and frankly I resent those who will not allow it.

In his own book he said, and I paraphrase, that he learned early that he had to identify with his father's race......he also said he would divorce himself from his white roots to do that. I'm not gonna go looking for the quote now, if I'd bought the book, I'd be glad to give you the quote but I was too cheap for that.

Here is your quote Sheila..

In his book "Dreams of My Father", Barack Obama wrote ' I never emulate white men AND BROWN MEN whose fates didn?t speak to my own. It was into my father?s image, the black man, son of Africa, that I?d packed all the attributes I sought in myself..'.

Quite a leap to take this one tiny passage out of a book and out of the context it was obviously meant to be presented and claim Obama hates white people.

Don't you think the more likely possibility is that you are looking too hard for something that for your evidense does not exist...or at the very least is not supported by a man talking several years ago about his early teen years with a few words describing how he saw himself. Which took place over thirty years ago? Common Sheila..Really? I had a different impression of your sense of honesty and fair play.

An attorney I work for is black and gay and he is against Obama's POLICIES.
Too much going on there.
The left and right are so hung up on "I disagree with their policies so they are a very bad person".
But the fact does remain that MANY have a problem with a black President. To ignore that is absurd.
The absurd death panel, born in Kenya, he is a Muslim accusations that go on and on and on and on and on and on.
This mentality has spread to the churches as well.
Sad state of affairs when preachers get up in church and condemn a President.
You don't know how Wright you are, dawg.

I voted for a black president, support all his socialist policies, and just plain unconditionally agree with everything he says is the new 'I have black friends'.
