There were false claims, misinformation, and snake oil vaccines given out like candy by all sides, not just one. Trump was repeating info given to him by his advisors, of which Fauci was a major player, advising that the country be shut down.

Considering Dr. Morens worked under Dr. Fauci’s leadership for more than 20 years, it seems highly unlikely that Dr. Fauci was genuinely unaware of this relationship.

Faucis response to COVID was consistent with experts around the world. When faced with an unknown deadly pandemic, initial responses need to be quarantine, social distance and masks.
Their effectiveness may be eventually questioned but it doesn’t negate the need to enforce them early in a pandemic.
Same applies to the initial vaccine.
