Not if you think simply the mask is protecting you. A wet viral loaded mask on your face that you have been aspirating through doesn't help. Especially when you touch the mask and then don't immediately undertake hand sanitizing.

Not sure how someone is going to be coughing so close to your face that it will turn your mask into a “wet viral loaded mask”.

As for touching the mask, ifs already covering your mouth and nose, which seriously reduces the chance of introducing virus.

Never going to imply it’s 100% protection but given such a low cost, the benefit only has to be modest to justify.
