Yes I watched that hearing. We also watched most of the daily press conferences with Trump, Birx, Fauci et al as the COVID crisis came upon us. And it did become pretty obvious within a few weeks/months that the scientists were making it up as it went along. And leading that pack was Anthony Fauci.

Trump was between a rock and a hard place. He had the CDC and WHO and other medical groups screaming in one ear and Fauci and Birx, the presumed experts, telling him stuff in the other ear, and had to depend on outside information to decide how best to lead on handling COVID. As the medical professionals continued to put out mixed messages, so did he. At no time did he suggest any punishment or consequences for any governor or state or municipality who chose not to follow the 'expert' recommendations.

Meanwhile he went to work to make sure the governors had the facilities and equipment they needed for their people, had to decide how to mitigate the real financial hardship imposed by the shutdowns and restrictions plus keeping businesses (and the jobs they offered) afloat and pushed big pharma to come up with a vaccine.

He made mistakes. Everybody made mistakes. Everybody was struggling to find their way in a totally unique and unknown situation. But to blame him for COVID deaths in 2020 is utterly ridiculous. And to blame him for the huge deficit in 2020 when there was so little cash coming into the U.S. treasury but Pelosi and Schumer more than doubled the cost with pork in their determination to not let even a deadly crisis go to waste is also ridiculous. That left Trump with the choice to let people starve or accept the Democrat demands.
