The far right has been trying to take over school boards since the 1980s. In the 80s and 90s the far right, usually far right evangelicals, would run stealth candidates. These were candidates who would keep their agenda a secret and run as moderates then turn into nut jobs once they were on the school board.

Really this is nothing new. It is the same shit but different day: Don’t tell the voters who you really are until you are elected. It is the only way these nuts can get elected.
