The Founding Fathers were concerned with low taxes? In what context? Small government? The Founding Fathers created what was at their time, a huge government. Federalism was a step in the direction we are at today.
They started a rebellion because of the over taxation of a government that refused to listen to what they had to say. How on earth can you conclude that they werent concerned about taxation?
So we go from 'low taxes' to 'taxes'?
They also set up a Federal Government that had
limited powers specifically so it would stay small.
Not true. They set up a Federal government with limited powers. They wanted to restrain what the government could do. I think the arguments about size are ridiculous, as the definition of 'size' in this context is relevant. What exactly does small government mean?
and please, do not list the limits the founders expressed, because they left us with a mechanism to alter those limits. The limits were never meant to be written in stone, in the sense that they were untouchable or not open to change.
Liberty and Freedom is what liberalism is about. I stand as a sentinel of those things as do every liberal worth their salt.
Bullcrap. Liberalism hasnt been about liberty since the progressive/socialists took it over well over a century ago. Political correctness isnt about liberty. Making people work until April to pay off their taxes isnt about liberty. Keeping people in poverty isnt about liberty. It's about power to the politicians.
revisionist history and a poor grasp of reality is no excuse. you are ranting and raving here and attempting to pass it off as debate.
And you are here attacking a group of Americans for exercising their liberty.
oh the irony! the irony.
So please dont pretend as you protect that.
Unlike you, I can be seen sticking up for people whose ideology is in direct opposition to mine. Why? because I am a liberal.[/I]
You have no ideas, you have slogans that fit on bumper stickers. I feel sorry for you if you even believe a fraction of the shit you spew on here day to day.
Denial is typical of someone who can't articulate a counter point. What is wrong with liberty? What is wrong with wanting to be a free people? What is wrong with wanting to keep what you earn so you can decide what to do with the fruits of your labor? Tell me please, id love to hear it.
Articulate a counter point? To what? False premises, straw men, red herrings and wild rantings and ravings?
what is wrong, is you.
just as the Christians of today wouldn't recognize the Christ if he could come back, people like you wouldn't recognize an idea the founders had if were hit over the head with them, and you most definitely wouldn't recognize one of the Founding Fathers if you trip over one of them.
I think there are alot of Christians who would recognize Christ. And the Founders would be pretty obvious too.
the vast majority of Jews did not recognize their own Christ.
And Christians today have shown nothing in the way of actions to make a rational person think they are any less blind than their Jewish Predecessors were.
The problem is you dont recognize either one so you think no one else does.
