Yes, the little baldy guy had a yacht built in Rotterdam. But to get it out to sea hae needs to have historic bridge dismantled.

The islamic Mayor of Rotterdam is refusing to recognise the power of western capitalism and is refuing to dismantle the bridge.

Maybe bezos could alter his yacht so that it goes under the bridge ? Or maybe use his union contacts to pressure the fascist local government.

Please dont laugh at his plight. It could happen to any of us.

It's hard to have any sympathy for a person who would construct a vessel so huge that he expects other motorists to suffer having a bridge dismantled for his golden goose to sail under.

Bezos, you are a clown for setting this up. Maybe one of your Blue Origin rockets can lift it out to sea.

I read your link, where does it say Ahmed Aboutaleb is refusing to dismantle the bridge?

In response, Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb denied previous statements about the potential passage. He even stated that a decision was never made as Oceanco never applied for a permit. Without De Hef’s dismantling, there isn’t a way for the Y721 to reach the open sea from Oceanco.

Its not an outright fuck off but it doesnt look promising. Basically calling bezos a liar.

You said, "The islamic Mayor of Rotterdam is refusing to recognise the power of western capitalism and is refusing to dismantle the bridge."

But your link states, "...a decision was never made as Oceanco never applied for a permit."

So without De Hef’s dismantling, there isn’t a way for the Y721 to reach the open sea from Oceanco. So at this time, Oceanco needs to apply for a permit because otherwise, the bridge can't be dismantled at this time. So if they get a permit, they can dismantle the bridge and reinstate it. So that's your link.

So why the hyperbole in your OP? Is it basically you just hate Bezos?

Bezos can be a dick sometimes but aren't the Dutch shooting themselves in the foot? This is going to scare away other potential billionaires from building super yachts in Rotterdam.

Definitely, a lose/lose situation.

But its really funny.

Everybody normal hates bezos.

I thought they had already agreed on the bridge business- that's what was previously reported anyway.

Maybe Bezos can dig a channel around the bridge, lol. It's only money...

Oceanco never applied because of the backlash from the Dutch. The city had agreed to dismantle the bridge but then decided not to. Oceanco then decided not to apply for the permit.

The port city faced an uproar months ago as it considered dismantling a section of a 95-year-old bridge to allow the Amazon founder’s yacht to pass. But now the boat’s builder, the Dutch company Oceanco, has decided to refrain from applying for a permit, according to a Rotterdam City Council member.
City officials told reporters in February that Rotterdam had agreed to briefly dismantle the bridge to allow Mr. Bezos’ yacht to go through. But after backlash, they walked back that statement and said a decision had not been made.

So to get the yacht out, they need to apply for a permit, or as para bellum suggested, dig a channel to one side, I'm sure Bezos can afford that. Even if the people get perturbed, they will have to apply for a permit, dismantle the bridge, shift the yacht and then reinstate it.

Leaving the yacht in the dock indefinitely ain't gonna happen.

I have no sympathy for Bezos, he shouldn't have had it built so high. He should of had it built somewhere else where Rotterdam would not have benefited from the labor to build a boat he couldn't move.

From the report, Bezos was willing to pay to dismantle the bridge and put it back together. And yes, the yacht will definitely be taken out sometime in the future when things settle down.

My point was that this will make billionaires think twice about building their yachts with Oceania.

They never applied. Now its a political issue.
Well I don't even know what that is supposed to mean. Does Rotterdam have a permitting system for dismantling bridges?

The yard should have dealt with this before the project even started. Bezos shouldn't have agreed to build the boat if they didn't know how they were going to get it out.

Not my problem and I could give a crap about Bezos, but it still sounds like the new mayor is pandering to his political base to me...
