It's not that I don't recognize the conflict between the main 3 groups. Of course I do. Saddam mismanaged it. You might almost say he created it? But that's another issue as far as I am concerned. The truth is that Saddam actually did maintain some level of stability. This is what America 'broke' and has no intention of fixing. It took a badly managed community and made it worse.

I disagree, I think the neocons really believed they were bringing democracy to Iraq and that we would be greeted by grateful citizens. They were ideological true believers and ignored the advice of diplomats and experts familiar with the regions issues. They knew better.
