Yes, he wanted to protect his demostrators He could have had the guard at the Capitol in minutes, but he was enjoying the mob attack. His staff tried to convince him for three hours to call the mob off. He didn't...he is scum.

He tried to deploy the National Guard before the attack occurred. That would've quelled the attack, but Pelosi and the Mayor of DC said no. There's no argument to that. And, unless you're stupid enough to believe that the National Guard would've allowed demonstrators to attack the Capitol, it's a pretty fair bet that they would've stopped the attack...
