New York City's shoplifting epidemic is costing low-income retail workers their hourly wages, said Mayor Eric Adams on Wednesday.

The mayor's statement was in the context of an endorsement for Governor Kathy Hochul's push to allow judge's a greater amount of discretion when it comes to setting bail amounts of criminal defendants.
