"No one wants to wait around during an emergency, but one ER nurse has revealed there is a particular type of person that often gets preferential treatment. Nurse and mom Caitlin Armstrong recently shared the interesting tidbit to her TikTok account, revealing there is a way to skip the line.

In the video, the expert medic said the one person she keeps an eye out for is farmers. 'There are very few people in triage who get to skip the line,' Caitlin began her video. 'If you're an old, seasoned triage nurse, we very rarely pull people to skip the line and come ahead,' she continued.

But she then explained into the notable exception, which she says she will occasionally pull before they have even registered.

'The farmers will get pulled every single time because they are standing there, talking to you - most likely drove themselves - and are currently having the biggest heart attack that you have ever seen in your entire life,' she shared. 'They are just standing there with a cowboy hat on, no big deal, but they have also never seen the doctor, or haven't been in at least 37 years,' the nurse continued. Caitlin then declared:, 'They will get pulled to the front of the line every time so this is just your PSA: if you're in line, and a farmer's behind you, they're gonna go first, I'm sorry. That's how the emergency room works.'

So, take time out from your heart attack and dress like a Farmer before you go in. ;)

I don't know though, the few times I've been in the ER, the ones that always seem to skip right to the front of the line are the ones that arrive by helicopter out back. Every-single-time.

The shortest time spent in the ER was when my 3yo son was having an anaphylactic reaction. We did have to wait in line, but as soon as we sat down for the intake, she took one look at him and said you're coming with me and took us right back to be seen & treated.

Any other ER visit, regardless of the reason was a minimum 2 hour wait

I came in the ER bleeding from my surgery, (brought the bloody t shirt) and I was taken right in and to the back rooms ....waited (not long) for a doctor :)

I was in the ER doing paperwork one night when this dude passed out right on the admissions desk.........he 'skipped' the line.....~S~

I got bit by a dog in Bangkok and went to the Bangkok ER the next morning, walked in and they immediately took me to a room and started working on me. No wait. A couple nurses worked on cleaning me up, and then the doctor showed up to start the injections. Treated like a VIP.

That would never happen where I live.

Then I got the bill. I was charged like a VIP, a wealthy one. A local Thai would have paid a fraction of what I did.

I’ve been a nurse for 15 years and I never heard of farmers being given any priority in triage

I once waited in an ER for about 5 hours with a massive gash down my thumb from a broken glass tray. After about 4 hours or so I was really starting to get annoyed and I didn't even care about my thumb anymore. It had been soaking in an iodine solution for most of that time and didn't even hurt anymore. I could look into the wound and see my bone, but I was over the initial shock. I was getting really impatient and had resolved to just go home and patch it up myself. (I'm actually a meat cutter by trade and that's something I've done many times.) I've only had stitches about twice after injuring myself at work.

But anyway, so I flagged down a passing nurse and asked her to get me some forms to sign so I could just leave. She got really angry at me and started yelling with sarcasm that she was sorry they had heart attack victims that had to be treated first! I told her "well go ahead and treat them then, I just want to leave!" So she said she would get the papers but I didn't actually see her again. About 20 minutes later a female doctor came and stitched me up with 9 stitches. I got in that hospital around 12:30 a.m. and literally left at dawn.... For my thumb.

You didn't read the part about the heart attack did you. Cardiac cases always get taken first, unless you have a severed artery and the victim is bleeding out.
