I think what you're missing is the fact that interpreters iron out the differences. Without them there would be chaos.

We can't know that at the present time as true assimilation doesn't occur with the first generation. Also, general assimilation is mitigated by the millions of blacks who are disassimilating back to African roots (via eschewing traditional American names in favor of African-sounding names). Also, the rejection of American history and education in general is a strong signal that assimilation is failing.
