He was not exactly providing the services for free. He had made a business decision to exploit the war in order to gain free advertising for his fledgling company, Starlink. I agree with you, some companies saw Hitler's rampage across Europe as a business opportunity just as Musk saw the Russian invasion of Ukraine as a business opportunity.Yes, Musk refused to provide his services to Ukraine for free, and the US government has to pay for that. But so what? He is an owner of the business and making profits is his main goal. There are no alternatives available.
