Except that little Timmy, seeing these cartoons every Saturday morning, didn't end up shooting little Billy. Now, if you're REALLY going down the road of saying that popular entertainment causes kids to act out irresponsibly, are you going to then condemn rap artists for showing that women really are nothing more than bitches and hos? Will you condemn video game manufacturers for creating games for kids in which they compete for the highest body count? These are valid questions. It seemsDisneyLooney Toons has red-flagged Elmer Fudd and taken his shotgun. Now, like a good Disney Socialist, he carries a sickle (maybe a scythe for the purists who will challenge me on it - not much difference between the two).
You are acting like this is a new thing. Back in the 1990's, they edited the crap out of the short "Rabbit Fire", which the gag was that Daffy Duck kept trying to get Elmer to shoot Bugs Bunny, but ended up getting shot himself. The scenes with Daffy getting shot were edited out, along with some of the more graphic results.
The problem is, of course, that these shorts were intended for adults, not children, when they were written. Adults get that if you get a face full of buckshot, it isn't really funny. Kids don't get that guns are dangerous, so showing guns as a comedic device leads to little Timmy shooting Little Billy, thinking he'll be fine.
