She's got something for everyone...ban Thanksgiving and Columbus Day (what school celebrates Columbus Day anyways) to keep the native Americans happy and ban Halloween to keep the right wing religious kooks happy.
Maybe this is fall out from NCLB...they don't test Holidays so they've been cut from the curriculum completely.

Yeah, let's not celebrate Columbus Day, Halloween, or Thanksgiving...don't want to give kids the wrong message....good grief.
That's a Spring holiday, it should be o.k.
And really, banning holidays in school is pointless. If nothing else they are an excuse to give vent to some of the kids creativity in making decorations to bring home to their folks (thinking elementary school kids) and gives them a day, or two, off for the week.
Why are people so intent in taking all the fun stuff out of school???
