Yes they do! They generally don't use it but want the ability to if they feel they have need.

It's human nature. Many people want to drive a muscle car...but affording one is a different story. However the suprising sporty feel with only slightly diminished performance to a lesser car with a few luxury features? And now you have a winner.

I don't know anyone who has bought a car where the number one concern was its 0 to 60 time or its top speed. Especially when those people are looking for a truck

Why are people still buying Corvettes? Porches and Lamborghini?

Trucks? It's all about hauling stuff and towing capacity. The GVWR is all important when hauling a trailer or RV. People like boats and hauling stuff. Nevermind the fact that they commute with it 99.99% of the time. That 0.01% of the time they haul a washing machine home from Home Depot or something else makes them feel like they bought the right thing. Pride is the monster that must be fed with an automobile.

People have been enthralled with racing for centuries now. Whether by foot running or horses or cars or airplane. That's never going away. Tractor pulls are also a thing. Nobody really cares about saving the environment on a personal level with personal dollars. They care about their ego more.

We, as men, always chide each other about the guy driving the dually to the coffee shop in a tight downtown street....calling it a micro penis truck. But the truth is that we all like the trucks....just the cost is exorbitant. (So are the hassles of parking and maneuvering)

SUVs and trucks outnumber passenger vehicles by such a wide margin GM is no longer going to produce cars. Only Trucks and SUVs. That tell you anything? The ONLY line of passenger vehicle they are going to continue is their luxury Sports Cars. All other sedans are toast. No longer to be produced.

If station wagons were viable (EPA killed them) to produce people would still be buying them. People want the ability to haul stuff whether they regularly do or not. And if they don't want to haul stuff they want sporty performance. That's American culture pure and simple.

Sure you can not drive a sports car to the limit of its abilities in a city...there would be a wreck on every street constantly all day long. It also would get you tickets (motor vehicle violations) and your insurance would be insanely high. But that doesn't stop people from wanting them for their performance.

Dirty secret....the Ford Mustang was originally designed, when it first came out, to look like a sports car but not actually have the performance of a sports car. (Cheaper than other sports cars too). However, the demand for upgrades to where it had the same performance as any other sports car made it to be just like another sports car. Nobody wanted the smaller engines and transmission. They wanted the thing to be fast and quick.

And if a hybrid or EV can't perform with these features in mind....nobody wants them.

I don't know why hybrid vehicles are not more popular. They run on electricity until the battery runs out, then the gasoline engine kicks in. While it is running the batteries are recharged by the engine and/or the brakes until there is enough power to switch back to electricity.

Obviously, the law of conservation of energy tells us that we don't get that energy for nothing. As with completely electric cars, the energy ultimately comes from fossil fuels. But it is localized to the vehicle itself, which means much less opportunity for energy loss, as you would have for a plug-in electric vehicle. Plus, no waiting in line at a charging station, only to be kicked out of line by one of Jennifer Granholm's thugs.

I'm guessing that the government did not subsidize those hybrids, since they are not purely "no fossil fuel" vehicles.

The MPG in a hybrid is much much higher than a ICE vehicle. Usually at least twice.

Certain types of hybrid use hydrogen ion electricity generation....no combustion whatsoever. Where you can use any number of hydrocarbon fuels from alcohol to diesel. But the amount of platinum they use is high and contamination of the converter makes it super expensive to operate long term.

More and more EV charge stations means the more unstable the power grids will become, aside from the fact that no new infrastructure is even being talked about to supplying the huge new demand.

They lost the ship and thousands of cars. The ship company and it's insurance company are now in the process of taking Porsche to court to be reimbursed etc.. And we're talking many millions of $.

As more ignite, we might find ships will ban these EV toys, or they will need to redesign ships so they can push a burning EV into the sea. Or charge the owner extra to put their electric toy in special containers.
