this is ---'happenstance' is the kind of thing to which the civilized world SHOULD RESPOND -----lack of response is
a GRAVE SIN We did not respond to the Armenian genocide in 1915-----we ignored the persecution of jews in Germany----we ignored the genocides of 1971----Biafra and East Pakistan. We ignored Cambodia---POL POT.
We are ignoring the horror of the persecution of COPTIC CHRISTIANS -----and have been doing to for DECADES --------long ago-----a Coptic Christian colleague of mine told me about it with tears in his eyes--------the year was 1989.----------we YAWN and YAWN and YAWN----which is why the stench of islamicism is upon us

Yup, the US has a rich history of ignoring. We let stuff spiral out of control, then send our young men to be killed by the thousands if not millions and call them heroes. History will repeat. But that's sort of an abstract sidebar.
