Eddie Route found guilty

The death penalty was pulled by the prosecution. Wasn't an option in the case. But he got what he deserves.
 
Often times, the prosecutor will take the death penalty off the table because it means the jury won't have that hanging over them as they reach a verdict. Going for the death penalty would have meant taking more time to vet a jury and find people who would be willing to vote guilty knowing what it meant in the long run. A lot of people would refuse to convict based solely on that.

I have to agree. I didn't follow this trial at all as I've been really busy lately so I'll just have to trust that our justice system worked.
I had heard a bit about his mental capacity but no where near enough to second guess the jury.
