I still think turnovers are given too much power in the NFL. Yesterday, Philadlphia Eagles were outplayed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in total yards, 393 to 218. Yet, Eagles come up with the win. Why ? Turnovers.

Bucs had 2 fumbles, threw 1 interception. 1 blocked kick. Sure, this has a skill element (+ luck also), but I'd say with each fumble, the recovering team should have to take the ball 1st down at their own 20 yard line. Then go down the field, and EARN the 7 points. Shouldn't be able to go for a TD starting on the other team's 10 or 20 yard line.

It has been part of the game since its inception.

As long as it is applied equally to both sides, it becomes part of the talent list.

If you can't hold on to the pigskin during critical moments of a game, then you deserve to lose.

Totally disagree. What you’re advocating for isn’t football. Turnovers have always been costly. It’s part of the game..

OK, That's your opinion. Fair enough, I couldn't disgree more.

Holding on to the pigskin is important, but not enough that is turns games upside down. I woudnt even mind if games became decided by total yards gained, instead of points.

What I'm arguing for, is more "football" than what you are.

Amazing how even 1 person could disagree with the OP. :icon_rolleyes:

That proposal would curtail scoring, something the league does not want. Seems everything they do is an attempt to increase points and grabbing the casual fan.

Better to have less points, than BAD points.

I wish people would read the OP (with a brain)
you said you dont like turnovers.....i bet the bucs didnt like them to much themselves...turnovers have been part of the game for quite a while...they are great when its the other team doing the turnovers...

They would be OK if they weren't given so much weight in determining points.

Again let the recovering fumble team have possession at their own 20.
