This is a decision of both Russia and Germany.

This was a decision before May 2018. Meanwhile the USA declared war on Germany and Russia in this context with their anti-Nordstream law "for the energy safety of Europe". So it is impossible that as well Germany and the USA will win. One has to lose. And "the world" bets that this will be Germany. So easily kills the USA an ally.

What world bets on Germany? I wholly support the US in their policy with the regard of NS2. A number of countries in Eastern Europe as well.

So you think the energy politics of Germany should be made from an unknown toilett attendent anywhere in the pentagon or a secret service of the USA and not from the physicist Angela Merkel in Germany, only because she is the elected chancellor of Germany and Germany is a souvereign country - one of the first nations of Europe before the USA started to make Europe to a part of the US-American empire.

Germany as a sovereign nation can determine its own policy as it please. Other countries as a sovereign nations can determine their own policy toward Germany as they please. It is as simple as that.

An unusually severe winter storm is battering much of North America. Texas was hit hardest; more than 4.3 million homes and businesses remained without electricity on Tuesday.
The Southwest Power Pool, a group of utilities covering 14 states, imposed rolling two-hour blackouts, "a last resort to preserve the reliability of the electric system as a whole," they said in a statement.
Police reported four deaths. Houston authorities said a woman and girl died from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning after blackouts led them to try and stay warm by running their car inside an attached garage.
The worsening conditions also delayed the delivery of more than 400,000 COVID vaccines to Texas.

Cold cripples US energy sector
Icy conditions caused operations to come to a halt along the critical Houston Ship channel and several of the US's biggest oil refineries went offline.

Reuters calculates that the harsh weather knocked out more than 3 million barrels of daily refining capacityacross the region.

Energy industry analysts say production could be affected for days or weeks.

"The combination of increasing demand of heating fuels and refinery outages are likely to trigger a spike in prices" said Rystad Energy's vice president for oil markets, Paola Rodriguez Masiu.

This is the primary reason Ukraine last month signed with NATO for 8 multinational exercises in Ukraine this year that would encamp 11,000 NATO troops in Ukraine.

Indeed, we can expect those NATO troops to remain in Ukraine indefinitely and that would be for the specific purpose of deterring Putin and his nefarious designs to repossess Ukraine for Russia the Motherwhatever. Putin hasn't ever accepted an independent sovereign Ukraine nor has he accepted Crimea incorporated as integral to it.

(1) The Ukraine was in the past an extremely unreliable business partner and blocked gas transfers.
(2) Nevertheless it is not in the interest of Germany or Europe to close this pipeline.
(3) Putin or not Putin - this changes nothing. Europe and Russia will be neighbors still in 800 years.
(4) The NATO has not any right to send troops into the area of the former Warschaw pact in a significant portion.
=> Anyway it exists not military options - it exist only economical options. So: no economy - no options.

What's bullshit. For example: Germany could sell (Russian) natural gas to the Ukraine in case Russia likes to give no gas to the Ukraine, because the Ukraine doesn't pay their bills. And I'm very sure if Germany will lose some hundred millions with such a bad business the row of nations which will help will be very small.

For 30 years, Ukraine has cut the flow to Europe two times. Either time because of so called gas war with Russia, when Moscow used the supplies as a leverage to get desirable terms in negotiations with Kiev.
